Join us in celebrating the release of Sara Moore Wagner’s Blue Lynx Prize winning poetry collection, Lady Wing Shot

This poetry event is hosted by Mildred Barya and will feature readings by Philip Belcher, James Davis May, James Dickson, and Sara Moore Wagner. 

This is a hybrid event, meaning there is an option to attend virtually and a limited number of seats are available to attend the event in-store.

Creative reading with Christen Noel Kauffman and Ben Kline: Magdalenes of the Mountains

I’ll be reading with Caroline Plasket, Rae Hoffman Jager, and Christen Noel Kauffman. After our reading, we’ll discuss how our friendship contributed to our individual successes.

Sponsored by the Urban Appalachian Community Coalition, join me in releasing Hillbilly Madonna, winner of the 2020 Driftwood Press Manuscript Prize. After, we’ll celebrate at the Wooden Cask in Newport.

Pauletta Hansel and Sara Moore Wagner come together to celebrate and interrogate Appalachian girlhood. They will present their poems in a conversation that spans generations, from Pauletta’s coming of age in the coal fields of southeastern Kentucky, as captured in her latest book Heartbreak Tree, to Sara’s juxtaposition of the urban landscape and the hills her parents left for another life in her forthcoming collection Hillbilly Madonna. Their poems, together, present a lineage of the region. They speak through the gaps and the spaces about what it means to be a woman sprouting from this exploited and misunderstood region.

Enjoy an evening of poetry hosted by Rae Hoffman Jager and ISH on the theme of "finding shelter" by Cincinnati poets:

Come to the lovely Strauss Gallery in Downtown Hamilton to hear readings from Milk and Cake and other area poets (including me)! There will be snacks and drinks provided!

Please join us as we celebrate the release of Notes to a Mother God by Christen Noel Kauffman, winner of the 2021 Paper Nautilus Chapbook Prize, and Tumbling After by Sara Moore Wagner (Red Bird Chapbooks, 2022). We'll meet on the beach we call "magic beach," where so much of our writing was born. There, we will have a reading with wine and cupcakes. Please bring a blanket or chair, and a picnic dinner if you plan to stay later and write with us!
